Through The Doors: Freshman Pinning Ceremony

The Malone Society cordially invites you to the annual "Through the Doors" Freshman Pinning Ceremony. The Freshman Pinning Ceremony, inspired by traditions held dearly at Howard University and Hampton University, is our most solemn moment of Alumni welcoming incoming Freshman and new transfer students to the UA community and cheering them on as they start their “Capstone Journey”.

- Business Casual Attire is required
- Parents and Family are welcome to attend; please include in your registration
- All University of Alabama Students are welcome to participate.
- All participating Freshman must arrive 30 minutes PRIOR to ceremony start for procession line-up

Annual Pinning Ceremonies
Through The Doors: Freshman Pinning Ceremony is an annual tradition that welcomes incoming Freshman and new transfer students to the UA community as they start their “Capstone Journey” and connects them a legacy of excellence and support.
50th Anniversary Celebration of UA NPHC Greeks
In 2024, we proudly celebrated 50 years of NPHC (National Pan-Hellenic Council) Greeks at The University of Alabama, a milestone honoring the legacy of the chapters of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc., Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc., Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc., Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc., Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc., Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity, Inc., Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Inc., and Sigma Gamma Rho Sorority, Inc. The weekend was filled with unforgettable moments, including a high-energy step show, the historic debut of the NPHC Plaza located at Greek Assembly Hall, and a series of events that brought generations of #EliteUAGreeks for #BGR50.
The Annual Malone Awards
The Malone Awards honors the enduring legacy of the late Mrs. Vivian Malone Jones, the University's first Black graduate. These awards recognize outstanding alumni and corporate partners who exemplify excellence in leadership, service, and impact.
Annual Charity Golf Tournament
Our Annual Charity Golf Tournament brings together alumni, friends, and supporters for a day of fellowship, fun, and fundraising. Held at Highland Park Golf Course in Birmingham, the tournament supports scholarships and initiatives that uplift students at the Capstone.
The Malone Society Alumni Reunion and 60th Anniversary Celebration
In 2023, The Malone Society led the commemoration celebration of 60 years since the doors of The University were opened to all. The reunion honored the courage of trailblazing UA Legends, the late Mrs. Vivian Malone Jones and Dr. James Hood, with a series of events that reflected on progress and reaffirmed our enduring commitment to being “Where Legends Are Made”. We’ll see you again in 2028 for #BAR65
